Source hierarchy
BizCalcAtlas now labels and orders references by authority instead of presenting every link as equivalent. The order used on calculator and guide pages is:
- Government / official source — U.S. government agencies and other official public authorities.
- First-party / platform source — the company or platform that publishes the fee, rule, product definition, or metric documentation being used.
- Educational reference — established educational material used to support stable formulas or definitions when no government rule governs the calculation.
- Supporting industry reference — secondary material used for context, examples, or implementation comparison. It does not silently override a higher-tier source.
How sources are selected
Current fees, marketplace rules, payment-processing rates, labor rules, and other changeable external inputs prefer first-party or government sources. Stable business-math concepts can also use educational references such as OpenStax. Secondary calculator sites and industry articles remain supporting references only when they add useful implementation context.
References on calculator and guide pages
Each calculator and guide shows the source hierarchy directly on the page. Where a stronger official or educational source supports the same underlying method, that source is listed before older secondary references rather than replacing context silently.
Review dates
Calculator and guide pages display a concrete Last reviewed date, a source-review or source-verification date, and a Next review date. Dynamic fee calculators use the verification and next-review dates from the rate registry; stable formula pages use their documented review cadence.
Dynamic data and release control
Dynamic datasets are tracked with a dataset key, current publication state, verification date, next review, source-health check, official source, and publication decision. A dataset marked as blocked or unresolved is not allowed to publish simply because a secondary source contains a plausible value.
Conflicting or unavailable sources
If authoritative information is unavailable, materially inconsistent, or no longer verifiable, BizCalcAtlas may qualify, withhold, or remove the affected calculator instead of silently preserving an unsupported value.
Examples are not sources
Worked examples illustrate the calculation method. Example values are not presented as market averages, recommended targets, or current quotes unless an authoritative source explicitly supports that claim.
Testing and corrections
Formula evidence is paired with audited normal and boundary test vectors where available. Source-driven corrections follow the Corrections Policy, and material public changes are summarized in the Changelog.
